Aloha World Music Day Camp 2012

Promoting “lokahi” (unity and harmony) through music
For kids ages 7-12
No musical background necessary.

9am - 3pm

Themes: This year we focus on Himalayan Asia (Bhutan) and Pacific Islands (Hawaii)! Explore the music, arts, history, values, and natural world of Bhutan and Hawaii through singing, dancing, ukulele playing (ukes provided), crafts, folklore, and dramatic play. Plus special guest music workshops (African, Western European and TBA).

Discover a one-of-a-kind curriculum with experienced, credentialed teachers and small group sizes.

Camp concludes Friday afternoon July 13 with a performance for family and friends!


Faculty:
Hawaiian music, dance and culture: Deb Avila-White (13 years credentialed teaching)
Bhutanese culture and Western music: Jane Hancock (22 years credentialed teaching)
Bhutanese song and folkdance: Dr. Janet Herman (Folklorist/Ethnomusicologist)
Hawaiian and Himalayan crafts: Julia Chiapella (professional artist/credentialed teacher)
